Why do you need a solicitor? (if you don't mind me asking)

I enquired with a local solicitor two years ago for some legal advice and they wanted £500 up front.

Do you have house insurance with legal cover?

For a consultation before I go into a final discussion and to understand the ins and outs of changing t+c of a contract. I have 10 yrs, placed in an at risk situation and am making an offer to avoid redundancy. Basically a salary cut to help cash flow. If my contract gets re written I need to know what may happen to any Stat Redundancy Pay etc etc. If its only my salary that gets re written, where does that leave me?

House and legal cover, good point.

The base [1 week] redundancy payment is worked out as an average of the preceding 12 weeks
If your salary is reduced so will any future calculation

I'd ask for the salary level to be protected at least to current levels for the purpose of any future redundancy calculations
It may not however benefit you at all if they only pay statutory levels and your salary is above this
