Hi
I've just bought a bike with rockshox reba air forks so I guess this means I have to buy a pump? Any suggestions? I Don't have a huge budget.
And whilst I'm asking basic questions, I don't suppose you can get an adaptor and use a tyre pump on forks can you?
Thanks ๐
Topeak pocket Shock DXG is excellent. Mines been faultless. They seem to come out top in most of the tests too.
Shock pumps are built for higher pressure and have a small cylinder so would be very tiresome for pumping up tyres.
El cheapo Beto.
These come with a dozen different brands on, at randomly different prices. Halfords sometimes have them. Not recommended because they're cheap but because they're great- best valve I've used full stop, and easier/faster to bring a fork up to pressure than the Topeak (which is also very nice btw, and more compact if you want to carry one with you)
Someone was exhibiting a no-loss valve at Eurobike, which in theory you could use with a track pump. But it was more expensive than a shock pump so.
Great stuff many thanks.
get the topeak - little bit more money but has a 2 stage engagement/disengagement which means it will be more accurate.
Topeak do a no-loss valve you can put on any pump - have done for years and it's not expensive.
As for shock pump - Topeak - works perfectly and has a no loss valve.
As for using a tyre pump - won't work as your forks have a very small volume so you need a small accurate pump that can do high pressures. A road pump could technically work but you need a gauge and ideally an air release button to get the pressure right as if you try and connect a gauge you will let most of the air out as the volume is so small. And likewise you can't use a shock pump on tyres as it will take too long and put lots of wear on your shock pump.

The Beto also has 2-stage engagement (and it works better tbh). Any shock pump that doesn't have a proper no-loss valve is fit only for the bin really.
