Ones to add some extra flashing 'be seen'-ness, and can be o-ring mounted to forks/seat-stays.

Front and rear in different (body) colours are available. The rubber is strangely pleasing to the touch, very....rubbery.... very.... I better shut up now.

Been getting on really well with a set of Alpkit Tau lights here too. Front is bright enough for trundling along unlit paths in a bind too.

I'll send you some (we STILL have your hospice gift as well). What is Sir's favoured rubber fetish colour?

I have some Lezyne Femto lights as smaller additions.

Well made, easy to take on/off with rubber strap. Hard to fault.

LifeLine USB 40 lumen.

£11 and rechargeable with USB. Brighter than you'd expect for 40 lumens.

Are you in a rush? Battery or rechargeable

Some of the coin cell silicon jobs are very cheap from China. You could buy loads for much cheapness, but it'll take a while to turn up

I've been using some Lezyne one for a few years, which is unusual, as I usually kill rear lights within a year or so. I've just bought a couple of those Lifeline ones for our boys bikes, and am really impressed with them: cheap, very bright and USB rechargeable.

Lights which take coin batteries are a complete waste of money IME: they may be cheap to buy, but inevitably end up costing many times their purchase price when you have to replace the batteries every month.

Those alpkit ones look good...ordered a pair to see what the build quality is like.

I've had the Leyzyne ones - all form over function i found (like most lzyne stuff!). I had a few pairs, as did friends, and all failed to work properly! Wouldn't turn on/off (it's sole function, you could say!)

Lifeline ones a re small and work well, however

I bought these from China they are very similar to the Leyzne ones but 1/4 of the price.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cycling-Bicycle-Bike-3-LED-Head-Front-Rear-Tail-Warning-USB-Light-Safety-Lamp-/321952166447?#

They took about 2 weeks and i ordered 2 red 2 white so i have a back up.

They are super bright and very visible without the usual crappy mounts most lights come with.

However the rubber bits are a bit too soft for my liking so i ordered genuine leyzne ones for £1.49 each from Tweeks.

Seriously - Chinese led lights- you'd pay £12 just because they are Alpkit branded? when the same things are all over eBay for about a fiver? oooookkk.

Dez - I know what you're saying, but I look at it like this:
It's twice the price, or £12 more in total.

For £12, I'm happy to pay that premium for the customer service, support of alpkit, and (i suspect) slightly better QC on teh items).

In my student days I used to 'chase the bargain' and for a while ran 'cheap Chinese lights'. For the most part they were fine, but the batteries went, connections were temporary. TBH, nowadays I'd just rather pay more (in some cases a few hundred squid more: exposure vs chinese for example) for kit that just 'works' each time, every time.

I value my safety and riding opportunities more than I do a few extra quid in the bank 😉

Besides, when I get paid for the BBB lodge for 2016 by the slackers that owe me, I'll be rolling in it... 😉

Pretty sure Alpkit's customer service doesnt include coming out to save you when their cheap(ish) Chinese lights fail 😉

I've been using 'be seen' wee flashers for years that take 'coin batteries' and over the course of winter commuting I maybe replace the batteries once, I have them on for about 45 minutes of my ride each way and ride at least 3 days a week.

USB main lights are fine on the front but I'd much rather use battery lights as there's far to much fuss involved taking every light off to recharge via usb.

Tried a Knog blinder 4 for the first time yesterday in the rainy ride home. Clamp isn't strong enough and there is a rattle. The light is bright and has a nice left right flash mode. But it isn't as good as I'd hoped. The flip out USB charging plug is neat though. That might be the source of the rattle.

Had a Cateye Rapid before that. Rear is fine. Front lost the ability to charge. Also the front projects so much light upwards that they now provide a black sticker to blank off the top.

Bought a Serfas branded USB strap light for a friend when I was in the US and it is excellent. Very fast to remove.

Not been too keen on mine. Works okay, but getting the back off to access the USB port is a right pain - it basically relies on the silicon strap to generate enough friction to turn the metal (which it doesn't on mine).

Squeeze the strap slightly, it will come off no problem. 8)

Well the Tau lights arrived yesterday - LOVELY little bits of kit.
Really tiny, slimline, and very bright.
Great design actually - as they are narrower than the seatpost, they won't rub or catch on thighs.

Also, due to teh slimline design they fix really neatly to the rear of a rack - which is what I needed them for.

In fact, I've just ordered another pair of rears and another front one! Easily clip to fork legs and small and thin enough to just leave there!

I've just bought these:

[img] [/img]

http://www.decathlon.co.uk/vioo-clip-bike-light-set-black-id_8346518.html

They can be clipped on to clothing or into rubber straps, USB rechargeable with a dual cable included, look plenty bright enough and both have white/red leds so can be used either end.

Made in France fwiw.
