Anyone got any recommendations for baggy shorts to be worn over bibs?

Have some Endura Singletrack IIs and really don’t like them or their Velcro waistband, but not sure where else to look. Thanks!

Rapha Trail shorts are the best I've used. Light, quick drying, long lasting and with sensible pockets. They can he had at a good price on Sport Pursuit at the moment. Which reminds me I fancy a second pair...

I like ION shorts. Lots on sale on SportPursuit at the mo. Also, these Fasthouse were recommended on another thread - at £20/25 worth a punt, I'd say

I got a pair of the Ion logo shorts, not worn on the bike yet but they feel good quality, stretchy with a bit of weight.  I've also got a pair of 7mesh farside shorts which I've worn once.  Seem well made, quite lightweight and comfortable.  One thing that was noticeable on one ride was the zip pocket was easily open and closed with one hand.  I got my son a pair of TLD flowline shorts.  Really impressed with these, slim fitting but good length.  He's had a few tumbles and no damage so far.

Alpkit Floe are really good - will probably get another pair as 20% off currently

Actually these are the best mtb shorts I've ever had. Lasted me two years before wearing through the arse...twice as long as normal.

I’ve got a pair of the YT Trail shorts and they’re really nice.  They feel really lightweight and lovely to pedal in, but have shrugged off a few crash/scrapes on the ground, gorse and scraping along trees.

Another vote for Rapha shorts here. Might be the best I’ve owned, particularly as they’re quite heavily discounted at the moment.

Nice material, good fit, clever pockets (that I was sceptical about but they’re really good), repair kit included, good adjusters and so on

Got a couple of pairs of these, can't fault them especially at the discounted price

im interested in this also - i just got some size small endura GV500 foyle shorts which i thought looked spot on, nice and light weight minimilist - but got them any by christ they are tight!!! cant even get the button fastened and they are just almost skin tight, im not even sure a medium will fit and im refusing to buy a size up as its already going to cost to send these back

what are the rapha trail shorts sizing like? im usually a 32" waist and generally size small in shorts (nukeproof i wear small in blackline trousers and shorts and fit perfectly, most endura stuff ive always been small too but not with these GV500 foyle shorts

Another vote for the Ion shorts on Sports Pursuit. I have a couple of pairs of the Scrub version and they've lasted very well, and are pretty comfy.

Worth considering at the price. They size up big IMO:

Another vote for Rapha, often on sale, especially if you aren't fussy about colours

Just got a pair of these, they're comfy on the road bike at least but not much pocket space if you keep any tools etc in them. Great price though and they're nice and lightweight and not too baggy/flappy like the On One Trail shorts I got which I feel a bit ridiculous in, they're almost 3/4 length on me.

Thanks all.

For those recommending Rapha, are they true to size and how robust are they?

Had some original Singletrack shorts that lasted for years so probably have no realistic frame of reference for durability…

Madison Zenith here. Many pairs...

Also the TLD Ruckus for when it's too warm for the Zenith.

I've got the Rapha lightweight trail shorts. The Large is perfect for me and I usually take a 33-34 inch waist.

Very nice gear from Rapha when you wait for a sale.

Like Bens above I have Madison Zenith, I like them alot. They do have velcro adjusters on the side but are good in use. The pockets are tiny though and pedaling with my phone in is really annoying so bear that in mind.

Forgot my light shorts heading up north for some cycling had to stop in Avimore, wear light shorts over bibs. Tiso had Patagonia dirt roamer shorts, expensive and my money was in shorts at home. Other half said no way at that price £120 less discount. Round all the other shops even rubbish shorts were £70-100 with elasticated waist bands pockets not right and terrible belts . Bought the Patagonia ones only because pockets felt right and a nice pull strap on waist. Now its keeping a watch for a big discount on a dark pair of them if they dont fall apart.
