If you want the trad look, Charge U-bend is the best, hardest-wearing stuff I've come across. Real leather bar tapes like Brooks end up stained and discoloured pretty quickly.

Harlequin for something distinctive.
Lizzard SKins DSP in a garish colour if you plan on doing some miles.
