Maxxis Swampthing
Bontrager ACX 2.35"
Bontrager XR4 either 2.2 or 2.35 (the 2.2's are massive for a 2.2)

Probably plenty of others too... Some people will no doubt come on here to say that you can't have a fat mud tyre, they're a waste of time, but they're kind've missing the point as you're not going to stick a 1.8" tyre on a full sus or a 32lb hardtail built for abuse are you!

I've just gone for the xr4s as a big volume all-seasons tyre for the lakes, Wales etc. I haven't had the chance to see how they fare in the places I bought them for, but they did well in the local gloop yesterday. I've got the 2.35s, which are mahoosive. I've seen smaller 2.5s.

They are relatively light and fast rolling too for the type of tyre, with the added bonus that they're so wide you don't have to lean your bike against anything when you get off.

Less than £50 a pair too.

Nevegal DTCs are pretty good in the winter, not proper mud tyres but also a bit more stable when not in the gloop.

Bonty XR4's have been pish on wet rock and roots and doing anything other than going in a straight line in mud, only tyre that I have spun 180 degrees whilst riding in a straight line, running them tubeless and even down at 12psi in the front and 14 in the back they wouldn't grip, kept being pinged sideways off anything bigger than a pebble.

Swampthings work well in the mud and grip well on wet roots.
ran kenda blue Groove DTC front and Nevegal DTC rear all last winter in ice, snow and mud and they worked very well.
