Got some gore assos collaboration shorts which have been excellent but they're getting to the end of their life so wondering what folks were using? Seen a couple threads where people say assos aren't that great anymore and others where folks love them. I don't mind paying a bit of cash if they're comfy and are going to last-seem to have umpteen pairs of rubbish bibs i never use

My latest Assos bibshorts are as good as my old ones (perhaps 5 years old and 3 years old)

They are not quite as light, but they are the entry level ones as I had a lot less money to spend, but they seem as well made etc.

I went for Assos FI Uno.

I love my shutt velo rapide shorts, really nice cut, which fits much better than my other shorts, not a mental price either

ShuttVR +1

£29 ones are very good, I like them.
£79 ones are well reviewed, though I've not seen any in the flesh.

We are pretty much all set and non distracted from De Marchi and Gore.

Assos chamois pads only seem to go to the same quality level as the mid point in the Gore range. Admittedly the fit is exceptionally good but they seem pretty overpriced otherwise.

Just go and try some one and buy the most appropriate thing based on that irrespective of brand.

love gore stuff and miss trade discount 🙁 i think the dhb bibs look pretty well received though so might give them a punt either that or get some gore power bibs, prob with some shutt kneewarmers

Never liked Assos Unos, the pad's too thick for my liking, and they used to lack a lot of features like the flatlock stitching that others have for less money, although they seem to have addressed that.

I do think the latest Assos shorts are form over function though, the last batch of FI.13s we had in had dodgy seams and pads stitched badly and all sorts. I think Gore now have the edge, the Ozon are very good shorts for not too much money, or the Xenon if you're thinking of Assos money. I still wear my old Assos shorts, but wouldn't bother with the latest ones sadly.

Incidentally - Xenon are not recommended for MTB use. From experience they are not as comfy as say De Marchi Contours as the Xenon pad is def designed for a more static position a la road.

The Alp-X is a work of genius though. Strangely never stocked it though... people don't seem to want to commit to that level for MTB. And to be fair the Power range is pretty strong for the cash.

I've got 2 pairs of Assos F1 Mille and they're OK, but I'm sure there's much better value for money out there.

Edited my last post, as I meant the Ozon, not the Oxygen.

The Xenon has a smaller pad than the MTB specific shorts for sure, but never had a problem myself, I find the pads can be too bulky, like the FI.Uno.

Giordana Tenax, tho my pair from last year have already suffered a split seam (saddle rub) and they are a little long in the leg for shortarses like me.

My Assos F1 Milles are about 4 years old. Lycraw is now v thin, so they're relegated to commuting.

Going to have a look at Shutt for the next pair.

I use 3/4 bibs for just the other reason! Like shorts for me 😉

Got some Gore, Cannondale and Mavic ones - Cannondale were cheapest and v comfy + they use that weird matt lycra that only dale seem to use.
