Whats a good brakeset these days?
Iv'e always had Hopes but the new tech M4's seem a bit pricey, what do the majority of you guys use for all mountain duties?
I have a £200 budget for new or used including rotors and fittings, they need to be easy to fix/bleed/set up and be nice and strong as they are going on my Heckler.
Cheers
SLX
Just bought a set of Saint 810's from tredz for £250 deffo more than happy with those.
SLX or XT fo sure homes
I have just taken delivery of a load of elixir 5's for a few demo bikes. Not tried them yet but they look nice 🙂
Got some going spare at good prices if you fancy the elixirs.
ash.addy, i thought the saints were a downhill brake, would they be overkill on my Heckler?
SLX +2. Fit and forget.
check out ribble for deals on shimano brakesets atm, i'd go shimano all the way, fantastic brakes and very very reliable unlike most other brakes i have tried.
Pimpmyride can never have too powerful brakes also the weight difference is marginal and 1 finger braking is all you need.
cheers ash 🙂
+1 for shimano brakes. Cheap, reliable, good power, good feel, easy to bleed and use mineral fluid. Owned several sets (deore/lx) and never had a problem.
SLX or Formula Oro.
Just had SLX from Ribble too. Seem good, though mine need a bit more bleeding as made a pig's ear of chopping the hose down
