Right we are heading off to marzine next summer 🙂 and having had a brace in my mounth for near enough 3 years I would rather not be knocking out any of my teeth. So i am looking for a nice, relatively light for a full face anyway, and not terribly expensive i.e. £100 tops preferably. I have a medium sized head btw.

Much appreciated.

You really need to try a few types on and see what fits you best as with all helmets fit is more important that anything else. Full face helmets tend to be less adjustable than xc lids too.

Look at oneal and 661 in that price range though for some nice stuff.

What he said, fit is the number one thing. Got a 661 Evo, liked the look of it etc, but realised after a couple of weeks it can rotate up so the chin guard is above my nose! If Giro lids fit you ok, then def try the Remedy.

Fox rampage is a great lid for the money, giro remedy also good if it fits. As said before you really need to be getting the one that fits best, THE do some pretty decent lids too and if you go for an older model you can get a good deal.

As above Fit is foremost.

Also might be worth looking at MX helmets too, they can be cheaper if a bit heavier and bulkier (but if you're on lifts thats not a big issue)

THE is bringing out a new ".5" helmet for £90 that looks pretty good. As above try before you buy then look on CRC for a bargain!

The Remedy is supposed to be one of the best helmets for all around protection. I picked one up for that reason, as well as the fact it fitted and came with Zombies on it (an important factor).

However, I found that the very round shape of the helmet looked terrible on me and I ended up resenting wearing it. Which isn't good when you're riding every day! Mind you, I've got pretty skinny shoulders, and don't wear body armour, so that probably made the bobble head look a lot worse.

I'd avoid MX helmets if possible. Not only are they generally heavier than MTB helmets they're also designed to withstand very different crashes, so it's debatable if the protection offered is as good as a helmet designed specifically for MTB.

if 661 fit some of them are cheap as chips (but strong with it). Me n Mr MC both have Full Comps which were 40 quid from CRC. Not too heavy, reasonable venting, cheap enough to be disposable (mr MC has well and truly tested them in Morzine 😯 .

Seen a few of their higher end models on offer at mail order places, the evolution is a good looking lid

I like my 661 Comp 2 - comfy, looks good and didn't cost too much.

Oh sorry, full face

In that case, I got a 661 Evo from JEJames earlier this year. Saved me from a busted face, so well recommended

Assuming it fits, a 661 comp should do the job
