I've got a cube peloton, done about 700 miles, since new the integrated FSA headset (high top cap) has needed nipping up every couple of rides so it has to go. Don't want to spend mega bucks, after a quick Google the Cane Creek 40 seems well regarded, can be had for £30. Also noticed a lot of Canyons and Roses come with Acros, they any good? Anything else? £50 max.
On the same subject I read an article by Chris King from back when integrated headsets hit the market absolutely slating the design and saying the internal bearing seats could end up damaged, writing the frame off. Has this proved to be the case?
Before you buy a new headset have you checked that here are enough internal spacers to allow the headset to compress correctly? Took me 4 months of trying lots of things such as a new headset before I found out that my Argon 18 required internal headset spacers.
Hadn't thought of that, didn't even know they could have them TBH. Will have a look. When you say internal are they fitted inside the headtube?
They're part of the headset assembly to allow the compression ring to work. see here
