Stans Flow rims are very strong, reasonably light and not horrifically priced.

Edit: May be a by wide for the sort of tyres you'd tend to use on a Fargo though.

i'm 13 stone - went for Arch EX rims. these aren't burly enough for you. consider Flow's.

I've personally always liked the Mavic 719 rims. I had a set on my 26" Intense and when I went fully 29er I got a set of the TN719s for my Salsa. Light enough to use for XC, but I've used the 26" version for uplift days on a DH course at Inners without problems.

Salsa Semi's are really strong and not too heavy or the Gordo's for really heavy duty!

Are the Velocity Blunt SLs any good?
Thinking of building them up on some old Hope XC hubs...

I have used 719s a lot and never had one go out of shape (I don't do jumps).

I've got a set of Velocity P35s to build up. They give a fatter tyre profile than the 719s (They are about 10mm wider internally than the 719 and you get 4mm more spread on a Racing Ralph.)

The P35 weight is only 32 grams more than the 719 and the bead seat is very positive. Definitely tubeless potential there.

p35's can go tubeless with some tape and valve like stans, nice rims.

Halo rims have been solid for this lardcore rider.

I have a Salsa Fargo as well (great bike btw) and i wanted the same sort of wheels as the OP.

I went for 36h rear 32h front on XT hubs and Stans Flow rims. I'm running 2.35" Big Apple/Super Moto tyres and they ride great. Been flawless so far.

I also have a spare unused black 36h Flow rim as i got an extra one when i had them built which is sat in the garage doing nowt.
