It's probably just strengthened white spirit in a can, but my god its brilliant, and its a huge can of it, so I think its pretty decent value. Really cleans up chains and cassettes so quickly, great fun to use on filthy bikes.

And its also amazing at cleaning your hands after working on the bike. Spray a bit on to one palm, rub hands together, rinse, and your hands are spotless.

Any others?

mucky nutz mud guard, does the same job as a rapidracer but keeps your fork seals clean and doesn't buzz your tyre on full compression

I wouldn't recommend making a habit of that, you may end up with dermatitis.

Aldi Caravan Cleaner.

Got a Mucky Nutz, do find the velcro comes loose and rubs on the tyre, but still really rate it.

Endomondo free version. Great GPS tracker, I find that if I use it all the time I'm conscious of the fact I'm tracking and thus push a bit harder to improve my average speed and such 🙂

Topeak Hexus - I was amazed at how easy it was to change my chain the other day. Granted, it probably isn't that hard, but this thing worked a treat, which for a little porta-tool thingy was unexpected.

Not bike related but a good coffee grinder. Had one for around six months and makes a morning coffee so much better.

Baby wipes for cleaning the road bike - much easier and less mess than using soap / Muc Off and water - and they're also quite good at keeping white bar tape white.

re-discovered the joys of "pulse"

Was completely FUBAR after a mental day at work, one dose before a night ride to keep me from falling asleep and not going out.

I'm now bouncing of the walls having got back in from a great night ride and managed to clean some complete swines of climbs.

Won't be asleep for hours now though 🙁

Fenwicks foaming degreaser
Harris DIY decorating wipes from supermarket. Very good for cleaning the bike and 1/4 the price of muc-off wipes.

Park Power Link pliers.

No, you don't need them - but they're very nice indeed to use.

Shimano MP66 shoes. Feel so solid compared to my Spesh race shoes - like I'm riding on flats in trainers. Pretty winterproof too. Only downside is getting the damn things dry when they have got soaked.

Crud roadracer mudguards for commuting. Fit my zero clearance Pista. Don't rattle. Just Work (tm).

Exposure Flash & Flare.

Ditching suspension forks in favour of carbon rigids with non O/S stem & carbon bars. More than enough to take the sting out of my regular routes.

Replacing the q/r with a solid nutted axle to do away with chain-tugs.

And them fangled 29" wheels.

Schwalbe Ultremo R1 road tyres.

Not one puncture yet (I know, I shouldn't have said that!). And there's a lot of crap in the roads on my commute due to much roadworks.

Used to be a skate shoe + flats person (Vans).

OH MY GOD the 5.10s are like my SPDs for grip!

Clif Isotonic drink. Oversight on my part for years was drinking litre's of water & pi$$ing it all out at the side of the trail. This stuff's great & doesn't go straight out again.

myprotein.co.uk

Everything is cheep, just make up a coctail of wheyprotein, maltodextrin, creatine, electrolyte before a ride, and I went from being knackered after the first hour on a brisk ish ride then suffer the last 90min to actualy enjoying the whole ride, finshing as quickly as I started and not feeling dead the next day.

Only problems are:
1) Missus is complaining that I ride more
2) I've got the fitness to ride SS in group rides on consequtive days which has me branded as wierd.
3) More money to 'waste' on non bikey things as I don't need gears or torq/cliff/lucosade products (just read the ingredients, buy in bulk, add in recomended doses).

Definately recomend trying suplements if your riding more than 2-3 times a week.

Rockshox Reverb, can't believe the difference it's making to my riding. Biggest positive change to my bike and riding since discs and suspension imo.
