Currently running specy enduros (large 2.2) on a '03 SC superlight and really like them but the rear tyre rubs the mech when in granny ring so ideally i would like something slightly smaller.

Riding is mostly pentlands mud so I am considering:
High roller in 2.1, 60a (although not keen on gap between and edge knobs)
Specialized Storm - 2.0 same soft compound as enduros

I would prefer general use rather than mud specific and no silly priced tyres, what else should i look at?

cheers
Mark

PS. Yes, i know, MTFU and don't use the granny ๐Ÿ™‚

if you're running HT2 cranks you could try an extra spacer on the drive side to push the granny ring out a bit - it won';t upset the chainline too much and the mech can move out a bit then?

I bought a 2.1 High Roller and was a bit apprehensive of its narrowness (I have it on the front) but I'm really pleased how well it grips everywhere - even down icy rock in the Lake District.

Sadly it's an ISIS crankset. Don't think the wife would understand upgrading the crankset just to run a larger tyre! (i'll wait till it has the slightest bit of movement) ๐Ÿ™‚

You could try a 2.1 ADVantage, but they do come up a bit wider than the HR carcass. Good all round tyre IMO

tighten the spokes on the left hand side of the wheel, thus pulling the rim over fractionally....?

You could try turning the front mech slightly so it just misses the tyre and see if it still shifts okay.

Worked for me a few times.

If however you need an excuse to buy more stuff, clearly this is a stupid idea ๐Ÿ˜€

alpin, if i mess with the spokes won't the bike crab?!?

Mary, the mech is adjust as close it can be, it only pops down half the time as it is. The tyre is knackered anyway so it's time for a replacement.
