I'm looking to replace the shock spring on my ext storia. It's 230x65 metric how do I work out the stroke length?
I'm looking to fit a fox SLS, has anyone had any compatibility issues if they have already attempted this? As far as I've seen online it's all good?
65 is the stroke length
I fitted the Fox to my Marzochi bomber
Cheers, I realised that after posting.
A Fox SLS won’t fit an EXT shock.
The only springs that will for will be a Rock Shox, EXT, Cane Creek or Nukeproof spring
Why not use an EXT spring, that'll be the lightest option, then a cc Valt, nukeproof sls are £49.49 at CRC but not that light, about 100g over a Valt depending on what lb you're after. Whatever happened to all the titanium options.
The internal diameter is larger on the fox sls spring so is it just because it won't seat correctly?
Ideally I want to colour code the spring to match the fork I. E Fox factory orange. Not ideal but has anyone attempted to spray paint a shock spring... Any advice in doing so? Which paints work etc? 😚
I assume they're powder coated not painted as stock ?
Use the awesome EXT spring and just put some orange bits elsewhere on the bike to satisfy your tartiness?

Other way about, it's 35 internal diameter on the Fox, 38mm on the Ext and many others. Unfortunately Fox have the smallest ID of any shock and spring, so only fit fox, other way about you can get reducer washers, but for the Ext, you have the choices other have mentioned.
Stroke Length is 65mm again as others say, so just be careful what you buy a spring that it's rated for 65mm stroke to reduce any risk of binding or the likes.
I think powder coating in pantone 021c is the way to go. I'm not really into adding lots of orange ish jewellery on the bike but the matching spring will give the build a nice balance aestically.
Thanks for the advice Team 🙌🏻
