Morning All
looking at shimano rear Hubs for my bike. My options are the Deore Xt M756 or the Deore M525a. Ideally hope would be on the cards but I can’t justify the price to be honest. What are both these hubs like ? Is one better than the other ? If so what’s are the reasons ?
thanks
Tom
They're both large flange heavyweights. XT is supposed to have better sealing and harder bearing surfaces, but in using them both (albeit a while back) it's the freehub that dies quicker in the Deore ones, as it's not as well sealed as the XT.
are you replacing one in an existing wheel or looking to get a new wheel built up?
I have an m756 set and they're still going strong 15 years on. They've been built into two wheels and run geared, single and fixed via a velo solo cog.
And they're silent.
I'd go with them.

Old. They’re, the both of them, very old hubs. Why're you looking at something from several generations ago?
If those XTs are new they'll be about the same price as second hand Hopes
