Having probs setting this up
If i get the cable tension ok to drop from lowest gear on the back cleanly to the next lowest, thenthe cable tnesion is out when shifting up from the highest gear down and visa versa
Any thoughts?
Same setup just been deteriorating over last few weeks

have you set your limit screws?

loosen pinch bolt that holds the cable in,
the mech will naturally return out,(if it isn't a rapid rise mech)
spin the cranks
does the chain jump off the cassette and into the frame.
if so you need to set your high limit screw.

have a read here on setting up your rear derailleur

Sounds to me like a gear cable problem. Have you tried replacing the inner and outer?Generally as they clog it gets harder to make the gears shift smoothly up and down

Sticky cables would be my guess. Either a damn good clean or replacement should sort it out.

Gear cable problem id say, had the same thing on my bike the other day.

Only had a short length of outer on the back and the curve into the mech was a bit too tight, took me about half an hour to work out what it was. Replaced that and put a new inner cable in and it work perfectly straight away.
