Hi all,
OK, I don't really have a problem with re-using spokes.
Anyway, if a wheel has a rim with ERD of 536, and I'd like to use a rim with ERD of 539, will I be able to use the same spokes, or is the 3mm difference too large?
Ta, Duane.
I would have thought this would be be fine, in the end it is only the diameter of 3mm, not the radius and there is often quite a step change in spoke lengths available anyway so there is a fair amount of variation on the thread insertion depth into a spoke - I suppose you could carefully measure how many turns a few nipples took to remove and see home many turns it would take before bottoming out when screwing back in
Should work fine as long as existing spokes are not too short, you may have some exposed thread...
