Having nearly killed myself several times running bonty XR4's around wyre in the last couple of weeks, tried to fit a set of rampages to my flow rims, not a hope in hell of getting them inflated, any one managed this and how did you do it? Have got the stans rubber rim strip on and the tyre bead is still loose, no compressor but tried a CO2 cartridge and that didn't even make an impression.

Yes, at an indeterminate point in the past, though I didn't particularly like the tyres - slow rolling from memory. I don't remember them being particularly hard to inflate, though it was a while back. What I generally do when tyres are being stubborn, is seat them with a tube in and leave for a few hours then remove the bead on one side so the other is still seated, stick the tubeless valve in, then lots of frothy washing up liquid suds and a track pump. That way you only need to seat one bead rather than two.

I have vague recollections that Panaracer is one of the brands that Stan's used not to recommend for tubeless conversions btw.

Correct, they're distinctly un-recommended! Very prone to unseating at high speed!

I have vague recollections of panaracers being WAY too baggy for tubelessing.

I realise Panaracers are not recommended for running tubeless but I managed to ghetto a pair of razors last year and they were a doddle, will try the trick with tubes.

bad timing for this thread
I thought it was asking if anyone had done the Red Bull Rampage tubeless on Flows rims! ๐Ÿ™„
That would be an achievement!

I don't think the issue is whether you can get them inflated or not, I think the issue is that the bead is weaker and so more likely to fail in use. In otherwords, dangerous and not recommended!

Poppa's right, the problem isn't inflation, it's the risk of the tyre coming off the wheel, which apparently is rather high.
