Hi all

I have a mk2 Raleigh chopper in ultraviolet hung up in the shed in a bit of a sorry state. Considering whether it’s worth restoring it. It needs a blast and respray and the chrome work sorting. I can do the rest at home

I’ve looked around eBay and choppertrader website and the price seems pretty variable.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Tim

As you seem to have worked out, unlikely to be a money maker.

I’d say do it for the love or sell it to someone who will.

You’ll probably never make a lot of money if any.

If you're lucky you'll break even on it when you come to sell it, if you can find someone to re-chrome the chrome bits. The people who wanted one have already got one or the prices have gone so mental they've moved on to something else and the people who are trying to sell whatever it is are stuck with it. Have you seen the price of RS escorts from the 70/80's recently?

Or 205 GTI's?

Getting the chrome redone is very expensive. Someone I know tried this recently and ended up attacking with brasso instead, turned out alright but not mint.

@Merak - yeah, but just because they're being advertised at that price doesn't necessarily mean they're selling at that price 😉
