Hi all, I've ordered all new shimano 12 speed for the orange. I currently run a blackspire oval ring. This has always been noisy though so looking to replace when I fit the 12 speed. Any experience with a decent chainring that's nice and quiet? Oval or round ?

I think there is limited options- either go for a shimano - Wolftooth or Absolute Black- I'm not certain but I believe you need to run the proprietary shimano hyperglide chain also- Although it might be the case that this is due to the Shimano quick link as opposed to the chain itself- Disclaimer I don't know based off experience just online research as I'm looking to run a Shimano direct mount crank set up on my single speed and Ideally don't want to use shimano HyperGlide chain - I like strong BMX chains.

I bought a superstar oval a while ago. ย I'v done some long rides and races on it and can't tell the difference in noise from the OEM it replaced.

Oneup also do shimano 12 speed rings now including in their system with replaceable outer ring.

Shimano 12 compatible Race Face rings are in the German shops already, price is bit higher than previous gen I think.

Related question: Do the standard RF chainrings not play nice with Shimano 12sp then?

I have a couple in the spares drawer.

I don't think anyone's non 12 speed rings play nice with the new Shimano 12 speed.

I had thought it was Shimano 12s quicklinks that didn't play nice, but switching to a SRAM quicklink solves the issue.

That said, different folks have different tolerances for what "works"

I have emailed unite components, as there's states compatible with sram but mentions nothing about shimano. I have orders a shimano chain along with everything else. Defo go don't wanna be ordering new cranks
