Having crossed it on a train, I wish that I'd had my body weight in beer to enliven the experience... Fair play to those that cycle it. You'd get away with a big gear with a following wind.

I'd like to do it if it wasn't a race, I've driven most of that route and it's amazing, but it seems a long way to go to rush it in a blur of insomnia and exhaustion.
