Does anyone know what the maximum size is for a Custom Map on the Edge 800 please ?
I think I mean resolution size as opposed to file size because the file isn't that big (5.8mb) & easily fits on a 4GB SD card. I assume it's to do with the pixels and the screen resolution.
Basically I've scanned in two sections of a map at A3 as Jpegs, spliced them together then aligned them on to Google Earth then saved them as KMZ files on the SD card, put the card on the 800 turned it on and it says 'An image file in a custom map is too big. Images that are too big will not be shown on the map'.

Think the limit is 1024 x 1024. At least thats the setting I use in MOBAC when creating custom maps for my etrex.
Thanks mrjmt. I was using MOBAC 8.1 and the Multimap OS source but it's been got at by OS along with other sources I believe.
Not to be beaten I'm scanning in A3 extracts of my hundreds of hard copies of the maps. Complete pain in the arse !
It looks like the scanned image has to be split down into a series of 1024 x 1024 pixel tiles. Anyone know how you do that ?
Dont know about chopping the scans down, maybe photoshop?
You can still get OS on MOBAC if you use "Ordnance Survey Explorer Maps (UK)" as the source. 😀
OS Explorer maps aren't on the latest version of MOBAC and have you tried it recently. When I tried to download the tiles last week it said that many were missing and I think it eventually down loaded 2 !
