I have just got a 2011 Flux and am looking at a new chainset (XO or XX) for the frame. In the FAQ section on the flux it stresses the importance of choosing the correct chainset i.e only the 28/42 chainring combination, with a GXP bottom bracket, as well as a 166mm Q-Factor (Q166).

Does this mean you cannot run a 39-26 chainset with a different/larger q factor?

surely a larger q factor would be OK, but I cant get my head aroound why they only recommend the 28-42?

larger would be fine - smaller not - as the end of the crank arms would hit the chainstays.
as for ring size... smaller rings would be fine, large may hit the chainstays.

It may be a warrenty cop out - deviate from the spec may invalidate warrenty?
