Apparently stainless steel is softer than normal steel so stainless bearings are a false economy, just keep the normal ones in good condition and well greased and they'll last longer

Then why are ss guitar frets considered an upgrade then? Serious question, I’m not being argumentative.

Because normal guitar frets aren’t steel, they’re a nickel silver alloy

Might be worth checking b&q if you've got a trade card. Worked out at £18 last time.

Because different use cases. Guitar frets are not a high wear or load but they are exposed to corrosive sweat from fingers. The SS resists corrosion better and the lower hardness is unlikely to cause an issue.

I only replace with stainless bearings, I get many times longer service but that's mainly because moisture wrecks steel bearing no matter how carefully greased they are.

How does "no returns or moaning" work with the distance selling regulations (or whatever it's called now)?

Size - s/m or L/XL.  They don't sell many clothes so that suggests socks amongst the rest

Yeah, I wish someone did do it as a test. It's tempting, not tempting. Odd size stems, headset or tyre sizes are no use to me but equally I'd be oddly happy with a random ship clock/light, some socks and a bit of olive oil.

Tempting isn't it, but my guess would be click 'clearance' then sort old-new <£10, which gives you various hemp paraphernalia, bamboo bits, sunglasses, socks, inner tubes, soap...

There's exceptions for special orders so I guess they could claim every pile of shite is a special order?

To be serious for a moment, no, it isn’t.  They sell some awful crap so just imagine the stuff they couldn’t sell that is going into these bundles.  Just my opinion but I think it may as well be addressed ‘straight to landfill’

If I had 50 quid to throwaway, it'd be tempting, just to see whats in one. Loads of left side pedals, snow chains, socks, soap, clocks, flip flops with spd clips etc.

They should tease a few items, at least.

Fustle causeway 1.1, an excellent gravel bike, now on offer with Hunt gravel wheels for £799.

The causeway is on the mountain bike side of gravel but as an owner I’m very happy.

I'm stumpy of leg, so total post length is critical, as I'm both running shorter seat tubes and typically need as much drop as possible.
For anyone looking for the comparison tables, the OneUp V3 can be found here: removed link
..and this is the current Ascend options: removed link

OneUp does moar travel (up to 240) and more diameters, but for £99, if the Ascends are as good as their previous ones, it's a no-brainer for most use cases. I've run about half a dozen of the old Ascends over the years on the family's bikes, and they are the only ones that haven't needed any maintenance at all. The new ones look a bit different, and stock seems to be cleared out. Worth following for sure though.

[EDIT]Tell a lie - they do a slightly fancier one that goes to 130: removed link

I got one of these (200mm).  The adjustable variety.  So far it seems great.

Now that sideways slithering season is upon us, BikeInn have some Hillbilly tyres for cheap

Grid Trail 29 2.4 £19.99

Grid Gravity 27.5 2.4 £18.99

Grid Trail 27.5 2.4 £18.99

OK, postage starts from about £12 but even buying a single tyre it still appears to be cheaper than anywhere else if you want those specific tyres.

I ordered 3 tyres and some SP41. Delivery was about £15

They've got a good range of Vittoria  tyres too at fairly keen prices compared to UK sources.

I've ordered from them a couple of times. Price on the website is the price you pay. Duty and VAT are included.

What is sizing like for Rapha trousers ? I have fast and light trail shorts in Large and they are slim fitting.

Not sure if I want to go L or XL trousers.

@kuman probably a bit small I'd say, I can often get away with a small but no way with these. The mediums with the cinches pulled in fit well.

Great, I got a 27.5 gravity to try on the back. At 15 psi with a Tannus Tubeless insert in there (Cam at NSMB tested that pressure with Tannus in slimy conditions and loved it https://nsmb.com/articles/tannus-armour-tubeless-inserts-tested/) ,

Hillbily T9 + Tannus should be seriously better on Winter roots (I hope). My Specialized KSL 1.1 should compensate for the weight and T9 compound drag. It has been fine on rear DH tyres like the DH16 in the past - one of the lovely advantages of a low power E bike.

At my age, I'd have to think really seriously about the rear tyre on a me-powered bike

For the price they're selling them, I grabbed an extra one to try on the back. If it's awful, I can just keep it for the front so it's not a great loss.

I'm not sure whether to move the current Butcher to the back or stick with a DHR. I do wish summer would hurry up already though.

One for changeable temperatures

https://planetx.co.uk/products/planet-x-pro-line-365x-3-4-length-bib-shorts-1

I've just got a pair, having previously not really got on with the shorts versions sizing. Fit is 'interesting' I'm normally somewhere between a L and XL, but plumped for a XL with these. I'm average build 6'2, but with a long torso, and if I'm honest the legs are a little long and the straps are a little short for the size or not stretchy enough. Fit wise they're comfortable enough and I'd not want to size down despite the everso slightly baggy knee sections.

however, they're a tenner.

if they fit you, they'll serve well as an in between seasons pair of shorts.

Nice raceface carbon bars for £60. I've got these in 40mm rise and they feel pretty similar to the oneup.

I also have an ancient pair that are still going strong but the newer version are a bit nicer fitting with the lower leg taper. Not sure how the bigger ones size up but the small are good for 31-32w.

That's a very good price - The Endura Spray pants ARE quite a good fit and nice and warm, but don't expect much in the way of keeping the wet out. I've had 2 pairs & even the most recent (maybe 18 months old), fine in drizzle but riding through the inevitable British wet foliage / ferns or splash through a few puddles and they are soaked through and heavy plus sticking to the legs from the knees down pretty soon. It must be a matter of taste or local conditions because I know lots of folk love them (e.g. Will's Singletrack review was made me buy em)

I'm 36 in waist and XL are spot on for the waist . I'm 6 foot 1/ 33 inch  inside leg,  trousers are a  good fit on me length wise..
