I'll be taking my three kids for a ride along the promenade tomorrow night, as they test the illuminations and close the road to traffic.
And it is a good weather forecast.
Round it off with a fish bap from Derby supper bar.

Anyone else going?

Sounds good, but a bit far for us I think:

Too far to head over after work for me. My nephews are on one of the illuminations though so we'll be heading over to see it in the next couple of weeks ๐Ÿ™‚

I'll be up there with the wife. Done it several times now, it's a bit fun dodging 1000's of other riders. Note to self "fit the loud horn"

I'll have a black and red cycling top on and we're riding a black tandem, say hello.

Aiming to arrive around 6pm for fish and chips before the official start time of 7pm.

I'll keep a look out for you john, sounds like you will be easy to spot!
I'll be shepherding three kids, one no doubt veering around on a bright red Scott voltage, from on board my vintage cannondale!

Done it loads with the kids.... just have your wits about you. The standard of riding is shocking.

This will be my second time, the youngest's first.
He should be safe enough but I can't understand why some, and they were on road bikes, seemed to use the event as an opportunity to sprint the promenade when it is soooooooo busy. Everyone else bumbling along happily but the few racers weaving in and out just seems to be dangerous.
Strava it may be, but there are better times to do it.

Bump for anyone that didn't see this thread, I've been every year since this started - I ride with a group every Tuesday night so we change our plans slightly to Ride the Lights with kids, other-halfs etc.

Fantastic evening and the weather's good - nice offshore breeze.

Hey john, I think I saw you.
Is your shirt in the design of flames licking upwards?
Helmet light on?

If that was you, we passed twice!

It was a great night for it, sunset was spot on and my three had a blast.

Derby supper bar again delivered a fish butty without equal.

I've never heard of this and it sounds like fun. I'll put a note in my diary for next year.
