Tried to buy some replacement seals for my pressure washer and after a lazy google search ended up at https://muc-off.shop. Turns out that’s not the real muc-off site. Barclaycard stopped any fraud, but one to watch 🙂
I’ve spoken to muc-off who’ll see if they can get the fraudulent site shut down
Thought this was going to be about products that don't do what it says on the tin/tube 🙂
I thought this was going to be about them selling products which don't even come close to doing what they reckon they will...
Are people insinuating that Muc-Off products are shite ?
Maybe my birthday gift set was from a fraudulent place, as so far the products Ive used havent really been the quality I was expecting.
Great marketing, shit products
Thought this was going to be about their chain lube testing

Their chain lube came last place in a very detailed, scientific comparison test that one of the German roadie mags did
Second last place was "not using any lube"
The only time I’ve ever seen the guy from zero friction utter an expletive was after he reviewed one of the mucoff lubes. I think he found it actually accelerated wear.
Thanks for PSA. Great prices. Order placed!!!
Muc-off tubeless sealant sure is fraudulent.

Now now let's be fair 😉 Bottom of https://zerofrictioncycling.com.au/lubetesting/ :
- Muc Off Nano Lube
- Wolf Tooth WT-1 on Factory grease (as per instructions)
- Shimano Factory Grease
- No Lubricant
It's better than the lube made by a drivetrain component manufacturer!
The packing grease used on chains isn’t really proper chain lube as we know it though, is it @bikesandboots
The guy from Zero Friction Cycling did ask Muc-Off some questions about their claims but I don’t think they ever got back to him.
I like their gloves, barend/tubeless repair kits, and 30mm crank/BB tension ring.
All bought at heavy discounts though 😁
They should still make stems with loads of holes drilled through it and seat posts that don't hold your seat in the right place.
The zero friction guy had a pretty narrow requirement for his testing though. All he's interested in is reducing power loss and reducing wear.
If you enjoy the place you are riding so much that you want to take the dirt back home with you, then muc-off performs second best to only glue, although glue loses it's effectiveness once it hardens, which muc-off never seems to do.

I was about to post something similar, but you've phrased it better than I was planning to. I've never used any other lube that picks up so much crap and gunks your drivetrain up so quickly. It then becomes almost impossible to shift with any degreaser.

Well to be accurate, better than packing grease that makes no claims to be a drivetrain lubricant of any value : )
Muc-off dry lube is the least durable dry lube I've used. It did smell of bananas though.
I have other wax/dry lubes that generally last 5-8x longer between application and a chain that sounds dry and a bit rattly-loose at the rollers (Fenwicks Professional applied with a hairdrier heat ftw - had 400+ miles from that).
Muc-Off lubricants are a total fraud for sure - based both on actual research and personal testing. That Zero Friction comparison is great.
I switched to Rex hot waxes and Rex bottled lubes after reading that ZF test, and they have been really good. I can get at least a few hundred - 500 km on one waxing, and on summer weather up to 1000 km per waxing. Just today did a batch of six chains, and after the first deep clean + wax, later treatments are simple: just put the chain in boiling water, let it dry, then re-wax and you are good to go.
Sparkling clean drivetrain, clean bike - all you need for a wash is plain water, as there is no drivetrain oil to mess up your bike. Just rinse off mud and dirt, and it is clean again.

Is muc-off really that bad? I’ve been using C3 ceramic lube for a month or so as it was the only brand I recognised when I was on a trip and needed some fast.
I’ve been quite pleased with it so far. Obviously I can’t judge it long term, but it hasn’t picked up much filth and feels quite smooth. Do I have to junk it before it starts eating into my chain?

I recently started hot-waxing the chains on my road and gravel bikes - I think after I ran out of a bottle of Muc-Off in record time cos it didn't stay on the chain long and it seemed to attract more dirt than the Finish Line stuff I'd been using before. I just bought what was in the bike shop basically.
But the hot wax - after some initial faff to get the process all set up - is way better. Last ages, chain and drivetrain stay clean.
It’s truly awful. I’ve never known a lube pick up and retain dirt like it. The blue wet lube is insoluble in every solvent I had in the house. I ended up using petrol from the lawnmower to get off. The dry lube is great - for oiling hinges on household doors. Even then it doesn’t last that long.
aldi occasionally stock the blue “urban” wet lube. Wouldn’t put it on a kid’s pedal car chain.

Hope Shit Shifter - the green stuff. Neat. It's the only thing that'll touch a lot of drivetrain filth. Muc-Off pink bike cleaner (even neat) won't come close to getting it clean.
Muc-off lube truly is the devil's juice. It's not all bad though. I own their waterproof shorts and jacket and effin love them.
Which specific lubes are we talking? I've been using their dry lube ever since getting into mtb and want to know how much of a fool I've been for not trying anything different. At least it smells good so I enjoy huffing it.

Er, the point I made is that it didn't come last place, as the other poster has claimed. It's better than Wolf Tooth WT-1, which is a lubricant. Allegedly anyway.
How does this (the crap chain lube) happen? Surely they could just take some existing perfectly fine lube, put their branding on it, and everyone would be happy. I don't understand how or why they've managed to produce something so (apparently - I've never used it) uniquely rubbish.
I've got one of their dry bags for something like £8. I'm using it for my OW swim wetsuit, and its OK so far. And a little zippy-up p ouch I put bog roll, wet wipes, nappy sacks and such in for when I'm out in the boondocks for several days.
But their stuff for chains... 🙈
muc off dry lube #1 in this test...
The above test has been dismissed as nearly irrelevant for the scenario of a bike chain. It might have been the zero friction guy who did it, or someone on YouTube.
And what the hell is in that muc-off green stuff ? I've had my hands coated in oil, grease, standard muc-off, even hydraulic fluid and i'm pretty impervious to all of it(wash it off eventually) but muc-off green gives the base and sides of my fingers a burning sensation pretty quickly.
Actually I haven't seen it for sale for a while. Maybe they discontinued it, as it could be mistaken for sulfuric acid.

The one with the yellow cap? I used to use it and had to resort to carrying the bottle with me on longer rides because the chain would get noisy after ~20 miles. Took a couple of rides like that before I realised that it really wasn't ok.
Both the blues (the urban and the off road wet lubes) seem to contain ingredients that actively attract dirt. After a very short time the chain goes grey, covered in a flakey layer of dirt and lube that you almost have to wire brush off.
The snow forms is hopeless
The tubeless valves however are bloomin’ awesome, best aftermarket valves I’ve used for the price.
Got it, @bikesandboots - when you said 'it’s better than the lube made by a drivetrain component manufacturer' I was thinking of the Shimano lubes, they're good ime.
