We’ve just staged HtN 1.5 without incident so were rather surprised to receive a letter from St John saying that in future they would not be prepared to cover our events without Mountain Rescue also being in attendance.

The reason given in the subsequent phone conversation was that they did not have an off road ambulance. However, if we were to have Mountain Rescue in attendance why would we need St John as well?

So, if you are planning an event make sure that you covered. To find out at the last minute (or on the day itself if they don’t do a site inspection) could cause you an awful lot of ball ache.

But are Mountain Rescue trained in first aid too?

Also, would Mountain Rescue really want to have a vehicle tied up potentially doing nothing?

We're going to have to investigate further but we're 12 months away from our next event. If you've got one in 3 weeks then you may have a problem.
