But...I...don't...neeed...one......
damnit!
Cheers. Needed some new bars.
Was convincing myself I needed some new bars.... But I dont
Super narrow!
retro narrow 😉
Cannock friendly
Still the ideal width around here - and only feel too narrow when my hips have got stiff so I can't get my enduro-shimmy on...
Thanks OP, pair ordered. 🙂
Amazing deal, perfect width for a trail eel like myself
Fisrt, 711 is not super narrow.
Second, Damn Damn Damn, I bought mine second hand for more than this.
I sold a second hand set for that much 😯 Lovely bars but I fell victim to Bar Inflation and had to replace everything with 760s.
Recommendation :
1) Buy these bars
2) Don't ever ride a bike with wider bars
They would go well on my hardtail. Must resist!!!
have been running raceface turbines at 725mm wide, sacrificing 14mm for the sake of some carbon bling...
Damn if only it was the Havocs
Ta! 😀

Same here. Lovely bars, too narrow.
Lovely bars, and on their way for the second bike.... Bargain!
Such a bargain I'm tempted to get a set and then build a bike around them.

1) Buy these bars
2) Don't ever ride a bike with wider bars
😆
Very true.
I got some Havocs from my mate who's Mrs works for the old distributers and gets them at almost trade. They cost more then that!

Also just right round lustleigh cleave 🙂
Cheers op - good psa. Purchased
Shame they're not flat 🙄
A big thanks to OP from me for this PSA. I received mine this morning and they are quality (come in an Easton box with literature etc), and an absolute bargain at £40. 711mm is just right for my riding.
Had a quick look on the Easton website and it appears that they are increasing the width in the latest season's Haven carbon bars from 711mm to 740mm so I assume these are now 'old stock' and being run out.
Stock is still showing on Chain Reaction site...
Mine arrived today too - replacing EA70 685 bars. Off to morzine now and as i'll be [s]holding on for dear life[/s] riding the rockhopper down the runs while the Wife rides my big bike, thought it right I treat myself 😀
And mine! They're going on my PA, current 685 EC90s going on wife's new Swift.
Annoyingly, Wiggle sent the wrong front mech, so I ordered another from CRC + some tyres. Thought about voucher codes at the checkout, but didn't think to open the box under my desk!
They have a lot of them in stock! (I added 100 to my basket)
Arrived this morning and fitted to my Anthem, together with a 60mm OD2 stem I found on eBay. I have these bars on my Trance and they are great, especially for £40! Off to play at Swinley later. It'll be interesting to compare the difference on the Anthem, having gone from 100mm stem and 685 bars. I hope it still climbs...
mine arrived today, and my god they are light! Looking forward to getting them on the 'Do It All' bike and going for a spin. My Spank 777 bars were just too wide for the local woods, so this should be a nice improvement 🙂
Good shout op,mine also arrived this morn',very stealth looking too.
Bah gave in an ordered some 🙂
Mine came today too. Lovely looking bars, look great on my ti ego chariot 8) Just been fitted but not ridden yet. Day off tomorrow to try 'em out though. Wahoo! 😆
Replacing a pair of aluminium 711mm havocs so should feel the same but betterer.
Thanks again op.
I hate this forum! Too much info!
Just ordered a set for my HT, yesterday having bought some 740mm Fatbar Lites for my FS..... 🙄
Stop taking this thread to the top (just ordered a pair too)
I did NOT need a new pair of bars (why is it a pair??).
(why is it a pair??)
Theres 2 handles on most bars.. hence pair
cheers 😀
Just bought the Alu ones and now I have to try to justify buying more.
i took mine off after seeing a mate snap his carbon ones at llandegla a few weeks back. Bought the alu ones.
They are very very nice though.
What torque is needed on these at the stem? Or is it just as normal, backed off a bit 🙂
Suggest no more than 4nmn at the stem (spec for Thomson stem for example) and use carbon assembly paste (Finish Line, Tacx etc). Also use carbon paste for lock on grips and controls. Use a fair amount and wipe off excess with a damp rag.
What you don't want is for dry clamped areas to slip, rotate and score the carbon with a nice cut line creating a possible weakness and leading to eventual fracture. I suspect that most cases of carbon bar failure are a result of this sort of line scoring or just plain overtightening.
Mine arrived yesterday, and was surprised by how scruffy looking it was under the finish.
It is perfectly formed and finished to the touch , but there are several thin wobbly lines that practical run from one end to the other.
It does not compromise the bars in anyway and once mounted and furnished most of them will be covered .
Not bothered about them snapping as will be using a raceface turbine stem, dangers my middle name.
There's still 451 pairs of these bars left at CRC so they've done a massive bulk buy (there were over 700 bars left a few days ago)! 😯
Gone up to £77.99 now.
Ahhh rubbish. 🙁
Dammit!
Lovely bars. Look soooo nice on my Ragger Ti. Felt lovely swooping through the trees round The Cleave this weekend 😆
Gone up to £77.99 now
# is smug 8)

Mine arrived this morning. Love PSAs like this.
use carbon assembly paste
How many people do this?
I've only ever used it on an alu seat post in a carbon frame but now you've got me wondering!
use carbon assembly paste
How many people do this?
I do, mostly because I was told to by my LBS when I got the first set of carbon bars a few years back- and he managed to sell me some carbon paste as a result. Probably used about 0.05% of the tube in five years ( that may be a slight underestimate, but you get my drift...)
The instructions say to use carbon paste on the stem/bar interface but does not say to use on bar furniture .
It does say max torq for levers 3nm, but to tighten stem to torq settings provided by your stem manufacturer.
Which I think on my turbine is 7 of the top of my head which I thought may be excessive, but will follow when I get around to fitting.
Anyone recommend a torque thingy which goes low enough for these?
ritchey torque key, ~£14 at various outlets.
crashtestmonkey - Memberritchey torque key, ~£14 at various outlets.
Thanks, but looks like 4 and 5 nm only? Post above says 3nm needed for the brakes etc. 🙁 Does 1nm make any difference? I have no idea what that actually is.
TBF I do brakes and shifters barely tight by feel anyway- so they rotate in a stack, not so they don't crush my bars.
3Nm is roughly about how tight you can go using the short arm of an allen key with the long arm in the screw head, unless you are a gorilla.
Hopefully mine come through, order is still processing.
They appear to be back to £39.99 now. Nice.
Great. Thanks for posting that. I came to ordering some late last week and was miffed to see them double the price.
Mine have arrived, got the order to just over £50 so got another £5 off
Mrs M's have arrived, they look very nice, as she hasn't paid for them yet I think they might go on my bike instead.
no no dear put the frying pan down I was only joking.............
Mine got cancelled as it was out of stock 🙁
Just to add to this PSA, CRC have Haven Stems for £24 to match your new bars - only in Silver though:
