*drops jaw*

It wasn't just a rumour. It's real. Astonishing. Never thought I'd live to see the day but it looks very much like there'll be a Summer Series of evening Cyclo-cross races this year in the Westcountry:

Tues 18th May - St George's Park, Bristol

Tues 25th May - Hengrove Park, Bristol

Tues 1st June - Oldbury Court, Bristol (TBC)

Mon 7th June - Gloucester Boating Lake, Gloucester

Tues 15th June - St George's Park, Bristol

Tues 22nd June - Ashton Court Park Estate

Tues 29th June - Castle Combe race circuit, Nr Chippenham

Tues 6th July - Oldbury Court, Bristol (TBC)

Tues 13th July - St George's Park, Bristol

Spread the word. More details to follow as-and-when.

๐Ÿ˜€

All Senior/Vets/Womens races start at 7.15pm and will cost the usual tenner to enter. Junior races are cheaper. And earlier.

Awesome! Particularly as summer and winter seem to be indistinguishable these days. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Yeah - What is it they say? Nine months of bad weather followed by winter?

Anyhoo - at least there's only a slim chance of catching hypothermia at Ashton Court in June, eh? ๐Ÿ˜‰ What a novelty! CX racing in the (potential) warmth of a balmy summer evening...

Can't wait. Talking of which, I'd better start losing some. 'Weight', that is. I thought I had plenty of time to get in shape before the season starts again. I've been eating nought but crisps and pies since early Jan...

Cool! I might actually have something to both aim for and actually be able to make it at that time ๐Ÿ™‚

You lucky buggers.
I've got to pound the tarmac all summer.

Jeezus wept, just as I was eyeing up the Focus CX bike that I can't have.

What's the organisers' policy on beer hand-ups? ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, I'm fairly confident that that sort of thing is to be actively encouraged ๐Ÿ˜€

After all, and the BIG races in Belgium the course has been known to go through the beer tent(s).

good to see more cyclocross coming up, particularly in a drier/faster time of year. But nowhere west of bristol? Good job there is a winter westcountry cx series that is actually in the proper westcountry too. ๐Ÿ™‚

But nowhere west of bristol?

West of Bristol comes under 'South West League' jurisdiction (from Chard/Taunton area down to Land's End).

This is the 'Western League' organising this Summer Series ๐Ÿ˜‰

Can't speak for the MTB races, but the Cross races are organised by local Cycling Clubs in the region. You enter on the day.

Summer SW xc series is run by Fully Sussed (Jay & Maddie Horton). Should be on XCRacer somewhere.
