Next Sunday's (24th Oct) Western League race at Conham River Park (Hanham) is having to be held elsewhere... This is due to some 'work' being carried in the 'park'.

Shame, cos it's the most mountainbike-friendly venue in the Western calendar and always attracts more than its fair share of mountainbikes and first-timers.

New venue is TBC, but will be somewhere else in Bristol.

Tell your friends, and watch this space.

Cheers Chas.

Double shame as it's the closest to my house and easy to ride to.

Not such a shame as my nick-name for it is Conham Dog Sh!t Dump and I always seem to get at least one puncture there
๐Ÿ˜†

Full of stinky head-cold at the moment but still hoping to join you.

C'mon dad! You're last!!

Hi guys

I'm a member of the Severn Road Club, promotors of this event. I checked with the organiser, who emailed me back saying:
<snip>
We will be racing at Conham River Park Sunday, so if you could let the forum know. Please inform them that the access to Conham is only available through Troopers Hill,or Blackswarth Road / Netham Road. There is not any access from Hanham at all
<end>

I guess that the access issue is due to roadworks?

I believe that the course has been altered slightly due to works in the park, but hopefully we'll be able to put on a good event again.

My 5-yr old son and I will be there as marshals (marshalled at this course twice last year), we'll be sure to give anyone on a mountainbike a big shout of encouragement.

Hope you're able to race!

Some form of 'improvement' I'd imagine... it wouldn't be hard ๐Ÿ˜‰

I think the "works" are resurfacing and wall stabilisation on Conham Hill road, which is is still very much shut at the moment, so if you're coming from the Hanham side you'll have to follow the diversion signs past Trooper's Hill nature reserve. Or ride down the steps from Church Road! You can still get to the course from the car park at the bottom end of Crew's Hole Road.

Didn't race but took photo's instead. Great race as always though, thanks to Severn RC esp Clive Tiley for once again putting it on.

This was my first proper cross race and I really enjoyed it. Couldn't help smiling all around my first lap it was so much fun, then the tiredness took over. Nice and twisty which was good on an mtb.

Definitely be doing it again. Thanks to all the organisers/marshals!
