So my middle son has started to get into a bit of DH. As we live in a fairly flat part of the world, but quite close to a couple of parks, I thought it would be fun to build up a scratch DH bike. At the moment, he is on an old DB jump bike and he gets hammered on the route sections. My plan is to refurb an old DH frame and swap the bits over.

Ive bought a 15" (15.5?) Stinky with a Fox air shock to form the core.

Q1. Will his DJ II forks hack it for a while, I think they are 130mm, I think longer travel would be lost on him until he has grown a bit.

As he is 5' f'all and about 30 KG, I was wondering if the travel of the fox would matter with the DJ II'S?

Shorter fork will muck up the handling, head angle will be much steeper and wheelbase will be shorter so the bike will be less stable and probably not great at speed.

I was worried that might be the case, anyone know the correct fork length for an 05 Stinky?

2005 Stinky were 170mm fork, but did not come with air shocks, so yours may be older. Do you have a pic of yours?
