Hi all,

Has anyone done this? I am building some 700C wheels and looking for recommendations of CX tyres that will fit with reasonable clearance.

Thanks

FC

I've done it on an XC bike as an experiment, utterly pointless. Feels really fast and agile for about 5 minutes, then it punctures and you nurse it round the rest of the ride. And there's none of the advantages of 29ers as the wheels are barely bigger than 26", just narrower.

So all in all you didn't like it much then!

I don't intend riding this bike hard off road, it will be my commuter bike that can handle a bit of hardpack path and mellow trailage.

I'd save the effort and just get some really thin tyres, latex tubes and stick pins in them before setting off.

Or not bother.

Loads of room for 700x32 cx tyres too on the above, lotsa fun

Excellent, someone else has done something similar and says its good.

That's good enough for me.

I'm ignoring Mr.Spoon, for now at least. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Not just yet, this is an experiment. An experiment that might go horribly wrong.......

Mind you, if it goes that wrong I'll just whack on some slicks and have a Cotic Bad Boy, if you see what I mean.

I hear you cyclistm and I do feel a bit guilty, but since building a SS inbred 29er rigid the Soul has just been sat gathering dust. Never thought that would happen.
