I am strugglingto get my 31.6 carbon seatpost into a carbon road frame, it wouldnt go in at all so i put a small amount of lube on, it will go in about an inch but then gets stuck.
I might be able to force it, but if i do i am going to ruin the post which i have already done on that first inch, its a ritchie logic, so not cheap.
ive also read somewhere that you must NOT lube carbon posts, if thats true, i have no chance.
the post that came out and the new one both say 31.6, although i didnt check that they were both exactly the same.
any ideas please
singletrack have been helpful because there is a little note as i go to submit which says "send post" but doesnt say who to ๐

you mustn't dry fit them but most of them recommend carbon assembly paste not grease.
I'd check the two posts against each other using some calipers (you don't need to measure the actual size just if they are the same) - there may be manufacturing tolerances involved.
tolerance build-ups are a bitch ๐ I'd be looking to get hold of another (any) 31.6mm post, if it fits then your post is too fat, if not it's the frame (probably)
thats what i thought,
gutted as i have a brand new one inch damaged 31.6 Ritchie seat post
:-(, i dont want to put the original back as its not a nice one

I always have. You mustn't use grease, but assembly paste is a recent thing, I've been putting carbon posts in dry for 15 years!
Presumably you've checked the inside of the seat tube for anything that's stopping the post going in more than an inch? Burrs or similar.
i hadnt,
but i will check, although the one that was in there went all the way in, and this one is so tight it wont even turn ๐
