[Closed] Probably a stupid road bike axle standards question

Is there a dominant standard emerging yet? Bike specs tend to be vague and Google isn't really helping.

Basically wondering if it's worth hanging onto a non-boost 29er XC wheelset (142x12 & 100x15) for when I eventually bite the bullet and get a disc road bike. I believe 15mm front hubs can be adapted for 12mm axles also?

And I assume the disc spacing and mounting isn't any different?

Most disc ones seem to have settled for 100x12 and 142x12. I'm sure it'll all be boost soon though.

Cheers, is it same for gravel bikes?

Quite a few still have QR rear but it's easy enough to downsize 12mm axles.

Certainly easy to adapt the front; I got some little alloy press in inserts to use my Chris King hubbed wheel on a 12mm fork.

Halo do a plastic sleeve/tube that fits in all 15mm hubs that spaces it down to 12mm
