For the first time ever I managed to snap a KMC chain yesterday. Can you fit more than one quick link to these or do I need to shorten it enough that I am using just one?

fit as many as you like, however once i've snapped a chain, i don't trust it much longer, and replace. for the sake of 15 or 20 quid i wouldn't risk writing off a rear mech or doing other damage on the trail.

If quick links are so strong, is it possible to use a chain that consists of nothing but quick links?

No. You can have 50% quick links though ๐Ÿ˜‰

I guess, but it would probably be heavier and more expensive
more likely to get stiff links? not as laterally stiff (if that matters)?
