Hi,

Ive got the whyte 146s and have recently put an e13 lg1+ trail chain guide on it. After tightening the cranks there is such heavy rubbing that it is hard to pedal. I took it into a bike shop and they said they didn't have a clue about how to put spacers in on a BB30 pressfit and didnt know if it was possible. Has anyone else put a chainguide on their BB30 bikes? Any advice at all?

Hope you can help!
ta

Why is it hard to pedal? have you mis-assembled the BB? or are you saying the cranks/ring are rubbing on the chain device?

I don't think it is possible to have a BB mount chainguide on a BB30.

If you have ISCG tabs, you need to put spacers between the tabs and the backplate of the chain device (needless to say, you need the appropriate chainguide for the kind of ISCG mount).

Are the cranks equidistant from the frame? If one side is closer that may indicate it is missing some spacers. I know the X model comes with a chain guide so it must be possible to stick one on there and have it work. You could also try tweeting "endurobiker" he's the rep for Whyte bikes and would probably have the answer for you.

Its hard to pedal just because the chain and ring are too tight against the guide. Ill try tweeting endurobiker and see what he has to say on the matter! Ive also just emailed whyte and e13 to see if they can shed any light on the situation

If the guide is rubbing you need to adjsut the guide not the crank. Might need a different guide?

Well I hope there is some way I can sort it because the guide I've got isnt cheap and its already covered in scratches from the rubbing!
