Wanting to have a steel frame stripped and powder coated. Anything i should be aware of? What's the best way to strip it? Will the powder coaters blast it clean for me? Anything specific about powder coating steel? Many cheers.

I got 3 of mine stripped and coated (2 with forks) for about £20. Nothing to worry about, the coaters masked off the BB, Headset and seattube bits.

Yes, no.

Only thing to ask about is will they plug up the holes e.g the BB with a silicon bung for you cos it will make life alot easier or you if they do. Leave some screws half in the bottle holder holes too.

That's very cheap. Was it a good job and do you mind me asking where?

Well got mine powder coated and I had to remove the paint recently (for welding purposes)and i have noticed that the surface of the metal shows signs of the shot blast 🙁

It should and it will. It gives a profile to improve the adhesion of the paint to steel.

To the OP just point out all the bits you want masking. Think the basic paints were £35 including stripping. Very pleased with the results of mine.

Cheers sc-xc

Pity I'm not closer. I thought Bettablast in the N.E. was cheap but they are more than double that for one frame.
