Looking for a bike for 'er indoors. Wondering whether to do a bargain build up or buy from new.

From ferreting around on the usual suspects' websites, I've found

plus

http://www.merlincycles.co.uk/Bike+Shop/MTB++Parts/Transmission++Gears/Groupsets+-+MTB/Shimano+SLX+10+Speed+Disc+Brake+Groupset++MT55+Wheels_2559.htm

plus

Sorry, can't get Merlin clickylinkies to work EDIT oh, maybe I can

Along with sundry bits, I reckon that's quite a build for about a grand

Reckon I can better it with something off the peg?

I'm going to resurrect this for the evening folks to have a say, as no-one did at the weekend.

Unless everyone's just ignoring me, in which case I'll just go 🙁 *sob*
