Having come to the realisation that the massive bearing/axle on a SRAM jockey wheel isn't actually a very good idea, are Shimano ones compatible with SRAM mechs?

I'm hoping so as I intend on putting some shimano ones out of an old mech in a sram x9 tonight can't stand the thought of shelling out another £20+ for a pair of plastic cogs again atm

Try the rather good Mt Zoom ones, pretty much indestructable.
They work with both SRAM and Shimano (so to answer your question they must be interchangable if that's the case)

Sorry could be wrong, but I think the jockey wheels are different for the X-9 Mech and you cannot use Shimano ones, well that's what I was told last time I looked into it.

I'll have a look at the Mt Zoom ones.

It's an X0 mech, if that makes any difference

first try stripping, cleaning and re-greasing.dont know if shimano will fit, other brands have different spacers supplied to adapt,as long as there the same axel, some older x9 sram mechs have ofset axels.

BBB jockeys from Dotbike are available at approx £14 for most mechs.

Just check your model year carefully.

Fill them with grease and fit, then ride for years.

So far they are outlasting XT at a very low price...bargain.

Directly comparable with XTR as they use a cartridge bearing guide pully.
