Any Gloucester/ Cranham riders know about the trails at the top of Portway hill?
I've heard one of the trails that start at the top leads out to painswick beacon.
Any help would be much appreciated!

mrmo, what obvious one?

Popes Wood. There are 2 main down hill runs that are OK.

But they lead down from the top of the hill down to the top of the steep port way climb (just before it flattens out at the top)

Go behind the royal william and go upto the first car park. Go through the gate on the right a head right. Keep riding straight and you will find a large open area with 2 different drop ins. Use the one in the middle go down it over the jump and then straight right. The run follows the road down. Once at the bottom of the run, go left and work your way up the seriously worn briddle track. And do it all again!

Just got back from a wander around Pope's wood; was surprised how many routes there are. We usually drop in to the RHS jump (which I avoid because I am a baby) and follow the track down . There is a bit near the bottom which is a kind of 4 ft steep drop ( I panicked last time and managed to topple off the side much to the amusement of my Mate who was following)

I found a nice track which is on the left before you reach the drop -ins. It is at a kind of crossroads with a mound in front of you. Watch out though as there is a branch at head hight half way down which I failed to move this time.

For sure!
Did I see any of you guys up in cranham woods last sunday?
I met a group of riders twice, going the opposite way to me at the top of the shrine trail
also near the birdlip to stroud road.
I was on the black rockhopper, had a black race face top on.

I was up the woods on Sunday 9-12 but spent most of my time riding the shrine, one who waits and race track.
