Hey guys . I'e been up and around high street before and done the nan bields (north and south) I prefer the north decent and am after techy decents.
One I've looked at on map is , cough, kidsty pike.
One read on here from a lakes ride who I wont name that it was a "cracker".
Can anyone elaborate on this.
Maybe a comparison would be good to something else.
Cheers in advance you always get what your looking for on here.
Kidsty is mainly fast and steep rather than the mega-tech of Nan Beild Northwards, with a couple of very steep sections, and a flat out grass finish.
Similar to descending Sticks pass west (but twice as high), or coming off Fairfield via Rydal Fell/Nab Scar, but with extra steepness. It makes a good logical loop or fig 8 with other nearby descents. Also similar to Beda Fell ridge descending North (over Beda Knot).
If you like Nan Bield North I'd suggest trying Blencathra's Doddick Fell, Thornthwaite Crag to Threshwaite Mouth (W of High St), Harter Fell West, Coniston Old Man East side - all excellent walks 😉
OK cheers for that. Might pass on that one then. Cheers again for the heads up on other routes 👞
I loved it. Top is fast and grassy, mid section is Steep tech, last bit steep fast grass...
Top bit

Go ride it... even if it doesn't live up to expectations its still a day riding in the lakes.... whats not to like 🙂
I see you chose to carry a set of handlebars with you the whole way round
Makes a great addition to a Nan Bield loop we do . Ings, up Dubbs Road, yolke etc.. to the Beacon, drop off Kidsty, up to NB shelter, NB South then one of a few ways back to Ings. Great day out and very deserving of a few beers in the evening
I think Kidsty is great, not managed to nail the very steep techy chute, there just isn’t a line I’d be happy to try. I’m sure you can skirt round it on the grass, but where’s the challenge in that?
