Hello,
What hub is this please?

Its a 28 hole, bontrager race lite wheelset (series 6000?) not the latest model, sealed bearing etc.

And the pawls in the free-hub have crumbled! where can i get a service kit?
And is it a case of removing the old ring with pawls on and straight replacement?

Many thanks
Jon

There isn't a service kit as such. The DT distributor Madison sell all of the bits individually so you just buy what you need. At the very least you will need 2x HBDT871 Osaka and 1 x HBDT872 pawl retainer spring. Your LBS can order these for you.

Can't see your pictures at work but i've just had my old 240 rear hub go on me and for a full set of bearings and new freehub it will cost £110! needless to say it's being scrapped and a new wheel is being priced up (which will be less than fixing my 10 year old hub) also the problems i had trying to find a local shop that actually had the special tools to take the hub apart kept me busy for a whole day! it'll be shimano or Hopes from now on as they're dead easy to service anywhere! (more Shimano as the Hopes are tad expensive for me at the mo)

Check the ratchet ring for damage too, and i'd also recommend checking the pawl carrier as well, had a customer destroying pawls on a regular basis until we changed the carrier too, despite it not looking particularly worn.
