I need a new bike - mine was stolen last Friday 🙁 Can you help me choose a new one? I had a hardtail Scott before and loved it. A friend recommended Felt, Cube and Scott. Could you recommend any particular models?
I ride on roads 80% of the time and do proper single track mountain biking for 20%. I don't mind about the weight of the bike. Front suspension is a must, disc brakes would be a bonus. My budget is £400, though I'd prefer to spend £300 if that'll fit my requirements. I'm 5' 9", male.

Probably get most for your money buying from one of the large companies - Trek, Giant, Kona, Specialized, Scott, GT etc. You can get some bargains at the moment as all the old 09 stuff is being sold cheap to make space for 2010.
Spend as much as you can afford would be my first tip
