Has anyone ridden one of these bad boys? What are they like for Climbing? I love the look of it, however ,South Wales isn't the flattest land 😉

usual disclaimer re being staff.

I rode the medium a bunch when we were developing it, maybe 1200 miles over a month or so. All ridden on 35mm carbon rims with Ultegra Di2 across the peak districts usual roads. So shitty tarmac with an average of 1000ft climbing an hour.

It's not a super lightweight, the frame's a touch over 1kg, but doesn't feel like it. It climbs better than my Viner and that's sub 900g (Who am I kidding, i'm 83kg, like I can feel the 150g) The steering is well judged not too steep, or too much trail, it's tractable and always felt surefooted even on wet descents, it's all tyres though innit.

It's got real spring in its step and it does genuinely surge forward with every pedal stroke. It's a bloody good bike, not just for us, I'd put it against any road frame south of 3K.

Get one with a mid compact chainset and a 28t cassette, you'll be climbing the walls on it.

I've got one and I'm a normal punter.

First bad... overall quality doesn't feel quite there for what the frame cost (nowhere near as good as my S-Work Epic finish, for example). I bought frame only which I know isn't the best way of getting value from PX, but I needed a frame not a bike. Paint is average, and mine has a stupid painted seatpost that looks crap, so much so, I bought a new seatpost for it in plain black carbon when they had their sales. The rear mech hanger was also at some comedy angle when I got it, and it didn't come with a headset.

Now the good. It rides really nicely. It's stiff enough for my 100kg weight to stomp up hills, and it is noticeably faster than my previous PX Pro Carbon. I've put Ultegra DI2 on it and Dura Ace C50 wheels. It's a little heavier, but the aeroes do work. Maybe not as much as something like a Venge but it was quarter of the price.

In hindsight I should have bought the cheapest complete bike and sold the rest of the stuff. Oh, and the photos at the time were shit, I was expecting it to be matt black with gloss decals, not aircraft carrier grey.

The Matt Black was the original Dark Knight colour, yours would appear to be the Italian Painted Dark Knight, which as you know is a different finish. That's my bad on the image file naming.

Yes, it's the Italian one. The pictures on the website at the time were identical for both. It wasn't clear that it was a battleship grey.

I kept it because

A) sending it back would have been a pain in the arse.
B) it went quite well with the Ultegra group set colour.

Although if you want to do awesome customer service and swop it (it's an XL bought in July '16), then you're more than welcome! 🙂
