I'm looking for new places to ride near Parbold area, already know about Bicketstaffe, Billinge woods, Pimbo bike park but looking for alternatives. Anywhere with jumps / drops etc preferably. I used to go to Back lane BMX trails probs 10 years ago now near the M6 bridge  - anyone know if they are still running? Have heard of moonhills in Wigan but don't know if they are still there either. Any suggestions gratefully received as I need somewhere to ride tomorrow.

Leeds Liverpool canal. There's a steep section near Wigan 😉😂

Rivi too far for a quick blast and I'm not in the mood for an argument with an angler to do Leeds - Liverpool

Haigh hall has some tracks and jumps near the bottom section (hospital end)

There’s 2 very short trails in skem at the Tawd, google tawd MTB. A red and blue, the red has tabletops

Coppull BMX track

Back lane trails was flattened (I dug those back in late 90’s/early 00’s)

There’s not a high amount in the Parbold vicinity though unfortunately, most stuffs a few miles away.

Rivi as mentioned,

Healy Nab, but that’s as far as rivi

Thanks for digging those, I dug there occasionally when they needed building up after being trashed by kids but mainly dug at Railex trails on Southport. All now long gone and older age and kids means I don't have the time to spare like I use to to put the hours in to get a new set running somewhere. Still on the search!

Railex. Remember those.

used to be loads of good dirt jumps being built back then (may have rode tinted glasses) boars head trails, Standish trails, back lane, poachers wood, a big king of dirt and some dirt jumps at coppull, plus the  Could ride to them all from home.

All long gone now. I’d insert a gif of old man shouts at clouds now if I knew how. “Back in my day” blah blah blah

there was a birkacre woods, used to have dirt jumps then they’d get flattened by the wardens and go quiet, then pop back up. Last time I saw them was 5ish years ago though.

I’m originally from Parbold and my mum still lives there. I’ve got a fold up so took it and rode up to Haigh Hall on the canal last time I visited her, they’ve resurfaced it from Parbold to the top of the Wigan flight so it was a pleasant potter, there were no anglers and a couple of pub stops if you fancied it.

Nice for a day out.

Trying to ride those on a 19" rockhopper put me off jumps for nearly a decade.

I can still feel the pain of smashing my nuts on the cross bar after flat landing one of the larger doubles 😖😂
