Can't believe we'd have missed it, looks like a touchscreen GPS that actualy addresses the problems with the Edge800 (namely screen resolution). Could be onto a winer?

Power meter looks cool too, although I'm imagining it being hideously expensive as there's 2x more bits than the Stages version.

Saw this the other day. Like the left/right leg display thing. Reckon a couple of grand at least with the display. Though I think it was ant+ too.

Says it's ANT+.

I'd quite like a power meter, but a powertap (which is cheepest) would mean running just one wheelset, not really a problem, but if I get fitter I'd like to race, so it'd be nice to have data from that too, and being a geek I'd want some race wheels, not open pros or similar. And SRM/Quark are £2k+ for mid level chainsets (so £1900 for the power meter). If there was a powertap price level crank (or even if garmins pedals ever turn up) then I'd probably jump on board.

But on a VFM level the stages meter is huge money for something the size of a postage stamp!

I didn't see anything mentioned about screen resolution, from the picture the screen looks smaller and no better than the 800.

More competition in the market will be a good thing though.

Got a powertap here. Use it mostly on the turbo for power based intervals so not really a problem being on one set of wheels. And it does make it easy to switch between my turbo bike and mrs blobby's. I've got a pretty good idea of power and effort having been using one for a couple of years now so don't find it really miss it when I'm on the road or racing.

True, I've found using trainerroad on the trainer really made paceing myself on the road much easier, especialy knowing just how much of a burning sensation coresponded to each zone.

I am a number geek which is why I want one, but I'm definately still in the "relliant robin on a rolling road" bracket of cyclists (260W FT, 95kg)!

Get a PowerTap, I love mine for training. The Power2Max ones are very sensitive to temperature changes and give odd out numbers, there's been a fair bit of internet chatter moaning about them.

Surely anything is sensative to temperature though? I read a article criticising them for not using a whetstone bridge, I know how they work but can't see how that accounts for temperature.

I presumed the fault was in the firmware not automaticaly recalibrating based on temperature where presumably others do? By the time i can justify it they may well have fixed it anyway.
