My brother is complaining about seatpost slippage ..seemingly a common fault on the Ramin 3 Plus which uses a plastic shim and 27.2 post. He wants to continue using the Thudbuster he has fitted but has no vernier calipers so I need to order another shim and double seatpost clamp . Does anyone know the OD and ID of the seat tube without the shim please.
I may also use some carbon prep paste or try it dry.
Anyone used those double clamps which are connected but one half clamps the seatube and the other the seatpost ..I'd never seen them before today but seem like another solution Many thanks
Bill

Without going out to the garage .... its cold ! , i think the seatpost is 30.6 ... changed mine almost straight away after issues slipping turns out the main issue was the clamp !

It might be worth simply trying a beer can shim, which if memory serves is 0.1mm thick and therefore makes up for 0.2mm in diameter.

I got through three of those frames and they all went back as pretty much none of the holes on any of them were the right size (or, in at least one case, shape). They were the reason I ended up buying some digital callipers 🙂

Good idea Bez ..might save me a few quid ...guess I could eopxy it onto the plastic shim . I had a few ideas but strangely forgot that option ...funny how obvious solutions slip the mind . I originally greased the post but will also try dry and with carbon paste. He wants to keep the thudbuster so I guess the final option would be a plastic pipe or wooden dowel carefully cut to the right size and inserted to stop the post descending. Also perhaps a big house clamp round the post to reduce slippage ?
Cheers
