Hope. It's what I've got and it's stopped a creak and seems to be lasting well. You'll need to either buy the specific tool or get it fitted by an LBS though.

Thanks. I have a impro headset 'press' (threaded bar and washers). Will that be enough?

Hope is not just a press in, it screws in somehow hence the tool being needed. This is one of the strengths as it clamps all together and helps stop creaking and movement in the frame.

Edit, link to which Hope BB to choose as sent to me by Hopea while ago.

cos they screw together, not press together.

Nige, come and see me at work... Buy a Hope PF BB from us, I'll fit it for free too (the tools are quite expensive if you want to buy them)... 😀

My Norco came with a SRAM BB92, which was swapped for Shimano at the earliest opportunity.

All you really need is the tool to drift out the bearings, as a length of threaded bar with bolts and large washers will press in the bearings adequately. The drifting tool is a must, though.

XTR here and no complaints whatsoever.

Or go and see the guy above who'll fit a Hope BB FOC, which will probably give you years of hassle free service (no, I'm not on commission!).

Shimano on both my bikes (Giant road and Giant MTB both using the push fit BB)

no complaints, they are cheap enough and last well

Would like Hope ones though!

3 month update

I had a Hope fitted by LBS and it creaked

Took it back and they refitted which stopped it, but it's now back again

I don't want to take it back again as I'm sure it can't be a fitting issue, not twice by a good LBS

So... I reckon, options are:

Buy a Hope fitting tool (£37 above link) and re-grease every couple of months, or ditch the Hope and go back to something else, like Shimano's mentioned above (the OE one didn't creak)

What do you reckon?
