Am I going to need the waterproof for the newt week?
Or not
BBC says sunny intervals, but can we trust the BBC?

Of course you can trust the BBC, but you do know what happens between sunny intervals in Scotland, don't you?
Please take your waterproof or you will attract rain, and we are enjoying the dry spell up here.
Yesterday the forecast for Kirroughtree for Saturday was rain, but checking today I see it is sunny with a bit of cloud. I would take a waterproof just in case to be honest. They are light enough not to have to worry about surely?
its 22 degrees with a bit of a cooling breeze today (edinburgh area) but i would pack for snow blizzards if i were you.....!
a waterproof in Scotland?
Don't be silly!
er, too be honest you would be foolish to venture far in Scotland without a waterproof.
you might not actually need it. but then again you probably might.
its not for nothing that we scots talk about 4 seasons in a day you know...
you want weather advice for the whole of Scotland, narrow it down a bit to locations? great difference between east and west coast.
weekend looks good(west coast) but where in Scotland are you heading
its kinda big
going around aviemore
Cheers
Juan, at 3,000ft in Scotland you can expect snow showers even at midsummer. Pack your waterproof and we'll decide on Sunday morning if you're gonna need it. The reason the British are so often talking about the weather is that it's almost impossible to predict it with any accuracy and it's so changeable.
Oh - and no problem with the BIG FAVOUR ๐
LOL at druidh...
I'll tell my adventure with the big favour on sunday ๐
waterproof. more like what a poof mtfu and just ride
I knew last week was Bike Week, didn't realise this week was Newt Week...
I believe you are doing the big Feshiebridge mountain experience on Sunday. My crystal ball and throwing bones predict a scorcher. Even hotter than last Sun when we did it. It'll be a lot of fun going up! The chances are that you wil have a very warm and dry week but Scotland is famous for it's unpredictable weather.
What do you reckon devs? Will my lightweight Ti hardtail be the perfect tool for the job - or do you reckon I should at least put some front suspension on it?
It's a tough one <sucks lip>, it's a ride of 2 halves you see. Your weapon of choice is ideal for the up which is a killer but you'll mince down one of the best descents anywhere. It's not a down for hardtails, ti or otherwise. I've seen 3 hardtails on it and the riders really do get beat up. I do it on my Nomad but I suppose the best compromise for the job would be a 5" full susser.
Edit: Apols it's late. I missed the sarcasm running through your post. Go fully rigid. The kudos will make you the most respected person in A&E ๐
Hmmm. Meta then....
I only have a hard tail ๐ suppose I'd better set off 20 mins before the rest on the descent. I did chicken out of taking the tandem tho
Juan - this being scotland you need clothing to cope with anything from 20+ C and sunny to 5C and pouring with rain. frost is possible in any month
Tandem would be perfect for crushing rocks on the descent.
Take something to counter the midges. Weather'll be great.
Tandem would be perfect for crushing rocks on the descent.
Rocky trails scare t'missus tho - so unless I want her to scream the whole way down............................
It's going to be a busy mountain this weekend. 10-12 of us are doing Feshie / Carn Ban Mor / Sgor Gaoith tomorrow. Here's a pic of part of the descent for those not familiar with it. It's up there as one of my favourites. Nice and fast and rocky.
It's been said before but pack for all weathers. Last month we set off in 18deg sunshine but needed a couple extra layers at the top. There was still quite a bit of snow on the ground too.
What yetiman misses out is the pain involved to get to where that picture was taken.
Anyway it's totally crap, you would hate that route, Juan is only doing it as part of a community service order, no point in coming up here at all.
Too much faffing going on in that pic. The only place you stop is that little saddle where the track narrows and goes left. This is to relieve the lactic acid arm pump which will have reached ridiculous levels by then!
Bloody walkers spoiling it as well (says the bloody walker)
Someone told me that it rains 300 days a year in Scotland, and the rest of the time the weather is awful. ๐
Doing the KIMM one year in the Galloway region, freezing cold horizontal rain. I heard a Scotsman say, "I wish it was England so we could curse it".
