we're planning on doing the pennine bridleway (or as much of it as possible) over the easter weekend. i've read up there's plenty of off road stuff so not wanting to take panniers but so far i can't find how 'extreme' this off road is. i'm thinking of taking the trailer on my bike with most of the kit and putting my bikepacking seatpack/bar bag on my girlfriends bike with her clothes/sleeping bag in. does this sound ok for any people who've ridden it or are we being optimistic? cheers
It gets interesting in a few places, only really know the Mary Townley Loop in detail but there are few sections of that I wouldn't try with a trailer, steep ascents (Callis Bridge), narrow pack horse trail sections (above Tod), cobbles.
Are you going to camp?
What bits of the PB are you doing?
How many clothes will your GF need?
The actual Mary Townley Loop is a day at most, we've done it in 4-5 hours depending on which shortcuts we take and how many of the tedious gates we miss out.
Roych Clough either direction would be fun to watch....might be a fair amount of walking/pushing.
Southern part is flat ex-rail lines.
Could be a bit tough in places - but I have done worse with my BOB in canada - can always push it ! Go for it!

cheers for the encouragement ๐ yes we're camping and hopefully doing all the way up to the mary towneley loop and possibly beyond. planning on taking 2 sets of riding clothes (one dry/one wet) and one set of evening clothes/jacket plus some trainers. we're used to touring and i've done a fair bit of bivvying so we don't need too much but just enough to be reasonably comfortable for 4 days. going to test pack tonight to see fi we definitely need it!
